Bloody Seriousness

Menstrual Phase (Day 1–5)

🔸 What: The body sheds the uterine lining.
🔸 Mood: Needs rest, low energy.
🔸 Frustrations: Feeling drained, cramps.
Tips: Rest, reflect, and focus on self-care.

Balance the Doshas:

  • Vata Dosha: During menstruation, Vata is naturally elevated due to its connection to movement and elimination. To calm Vata, focus on grounding activities like warm baths, meditation, and eating warm, cooked foods such as soups or stews. Avoid cold drinks and overly stimulating environments.

  • Pitta Dosha: If irritability or inflammation arises, soothe Pitta by incorporating cooling and calming practices, like gentle yoga or sipping herbal teas (e.g., chamomile or peppermint).

  • Kapha Dosha: For those feeling heavy or sluggish, gently stimulate Kapha by adding light spices (ginger, cinnamon) to meals and engaging in light stretching or walking.

🌸 Listen to your body and nurture yourself according to your unique dosha balance.

When I’m bleeding, I like to lie back in bed with a hot water bottle, a warm wool blanket, a hot drink, and some snacks.

During menstruation, it’s perfectly fine to indulge in something nice, truly enjoy this time, and maybe watch a film about how things were before religion started interfering with what we women do in our "red tent."

The Red Tent hints at what many generations of women may have lost—because religion viewed us as women/witches practicing forbidden magic. We were not supposed to have knowledge about the female body, menstruation, pregnancy, or sex. If we shared this knowledge with other women, it would mean taking power from men, and that was not allowed.

We must not be afraid of each other—imagine how much good we can create by balancing feminine and masculine energy. Both exist within us, whether we are women or men.

So during my period, I choose to do only what gives me energy, such as:

  • Making warm drinks: golden milk, hot cocoa, spiced tea.

  • Taking a warm shower, breathing into my pelvis, acknowledging my body, and giving it a hug.

  • Practicing restorative exercises that bring deep rest, calm my body, and relieve pelvic tension.

  • Cooking meals like stews, soups, oven-baked dishes, or pan-fried meals, using only natural ingredients—vegetables, fish, or meat. (I eat what my gut wants.)

  • Doing cozy, quiet activities with my family when they’re around. (What would you do inside a cabin?)

Take care of yourself and let your body and intuition guide you—your body is ALWAYS right.

What is your favorite thing to do?

Alot of LOVE
